PITCHING

Among top RHP prospects in Minnesota 2015 class.  Solid, projectable body (6'4"/200 lbs) with the ability to pitch 86-90 as freshman in college.  Clean, quick and strong arm with good down angle on FB and SL.  For a pitcher who did not throw a single inning for Cretin-Derham Hall High School (MN), Cole has a very good feel for the strike zone with both his four-seam fastball and hard slider.  Medium to high leg kick with inconsistent tempo at times but has a knack/feel for making good in-game adjustments.  Gnetz collapses a little on his back leg and could work to get over his front knee more but does a good job of getting the most out of his top half with good overall direction to home plate.

Firm fastball (84-88) / tops at 91 and has a swing and miss slider (79-80) with good down action that he commands both in and out of the zone.  Gnetz has feel for a change up but has mainly relied on his fastball and slider to carry him.

Plus character and teammate and for a positional recently turned pitcher, he has shown (both at PG 17u National Championships and ScoutStop tournament) an advanced ability to pitch at a high level.

HITTING/FIELDING

Scouts shouldn't forget his bat.  While Cole probably won't be a two-way at a Division I level, his ability to barrel the ball and overall strength make him in interesting enough player not to be labeled as a pitcher only just yet.  While the majority of his time will be spent on the mound, Cole has seen time both behind the plate, first base and in the outfield.
