The Blizzard’s best is yet to come

The Minnesota Blizzard Elite program has produced top players in the state for years but the best might still be to come.  He’s a familiar name at the Minnesota Baseball Academy and now he is becoming a popular name around the nation.

Logan Shore.

A native of Coon Rapids, Shore’s last season in the blue was in 2013.  An extremely hard worker and humble player, he credits the Blizzard for helping him reach the University of Florida where he quickly became the ace of the Gators’ staff.

“(Adam) Barta really takes his job seriously and really cares about his player’s futures,” the north-paw said.

The Blizzard have had over 200 players go on to play college baseball and over 30 have been taken in the MLB Draft, with Shore being taken in the 29th round by the Minnesota Twins.  Not signing out of high school and attending Florida has paid big dividends so far as he had a tremendous freshman season.

While most freshman are getting used to life away from home and getting their feet wet in the college baseball scene, Shore put together one of the best seasons for any player in the Southeastern Conference.

The winner of SEC Freshman of the Year, he also was named All-SEC First Team and is a preseason pick as college baseball’s 2015 Pitcher of the Year by Baseball America’s Jim Shonerd. These personal accolades do not mean Shore is complacent with where he is.  He has his sights set on an even higher goal for this season.

“My goal for the 2015 season is to get back to Omaha,” he said.  “After last season of going two and out in the Regional, I want to do everything I can to help Florida get back to Omaha and compete for a national championship.

“It has left a bitter taste in my mouth and helped me strive to work harder.”

The rising sophomore will take the mound for Florida in their season opener on Friday, February 13th against Rhode Island in a three-game series in Gainesville.  This season Shore will also be looking to raise his already high draft stock for the 2016 Draft.  According to Baseball America, Shore is the third best 2016 prospect in the SEC.  With his focus and hard work, it would not be a surprise for him to become the Blizzard’s first-ever first-round pick.

“Keeping your priorities straight on and off the field is a huge component in my life and I think it is a major key to success.”

The humble nature of Shore is felt by all of those he is around.

“I wish the best of luck to all Blizzard alumni and current players and it’s a pleasure of mine to have been a part of such a prestigious program and I can’t say enough good things.”
