Deruiter, Keenan and Varland commit to DII Concordia St. Paul

Peters & Varland after no-hitter

A trio of players have committed to Concordia St. Paul University, a Division II school located in the heart of St. Paul, MN.

Deruiter, a right-handed pitcher hailing from Rochester, MN, is a low 3/4 arm slot pitcher with good sink and a ground-ball-inducing machine with a fastball that is 76-79 along with a good sweeping slider and good feel for a change.  Deruiter has played for the Blizzard the past two seasons and has been virtually unbeatable in his time here.  Among his best outings was this past season in Utah where he struck out 13 in a complete game effort leading his team to bracket play in the RMSB Presidents Day Tournament.

Cameron Keenan, an outfielder from Wayzata, MN, has been a hidden gem in the Blizzard program with an above-average arm (90+), a 6.8 runner, and has hit lead-off for both his sophomore and varsity Blizzard teams.  Keenan, who was among his team's leaders in almost every offensive category, has been a catalyst for his team all year long leading his team to a recent 3rd Place finish at the Las Vegas Baseball Academy Desert Fall Classic.

Louie Varland, a right-handed pitcher from South St. Paul, announced his Blizzard program this past season throwing a combined no-hitter with Colton Peters in the AFBL league.  Varland, who has an over-the-top delivery has an above-average breaking ball with good arm action and easy release.  With a fastball that runs up to 85 at times, he is a raw enough talent to increase velo quickly during his freshman season with the Golden Bears.
