Logan Shore (2nd Round, Oakland A's), Matt Fiedler (9th Round, St. Louis Cardinals) and 17-year pro veteran Eddie Gerald are all joining the Minnesota Blizzard staff.

Eddie Gerald, who has been a full-time instructor at the Academy, is coming on as a Blizzard Varsity Head Coach.  Gerald, who was a third-round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals in 1989, also played with the Minnesota Twins as well as several independent teams including the St. Paul Saints.  Gerald, who is one of the top hitting instructors around, is a player and parent favorite, getting the most out of all of his players.  He is one of the most knowledgeable coaches around and is going to continue to be a great mentor and coach in our Blizzard program.

Gerald on joining the Blizzard program ...

I'm honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the Blizzard Family!  They are a class-act organization.

Logan Shore and Matt Fiedler will serve as roving coaches in our 12u-18u Blizzard Elite program spending time with each team from the fall and into the winter months practicing and traveling with all of the teams.  In addition, they will also be giving both hitting and pitching lessons at the Blizzard Academy.

Shore, who was the SEC Pitcher of the Year and is a finalist for the Golden Spikes award and Fiedler, Big 10 Player of the Year and on the watch list for the John Olerud Award (top two-way player in the country) both come back to the Blizzard after beginning their Blizzard journey when they were 13 years old.

Logan Shore on the Blizzard and coming back and coaching ...

I tried out for the Blizzard when I was 13 years old and  it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.  The way the Blizzard program is run is first class.  The coaches and the facilities are both top notch.  Since joining, I learned lessons about how to play baseball the right way and became a better baseball player and I was always taught how to be a better person off the field.

I was given opportunities through Barta and the Blizzard program to play in front of the right people and through that I was fortunate enough to commit to the University of Florida and spend three unbelievable years in Gainesville.

I am extremely thankful for everything Barta and the Blizzard program has done for me over the years and I'm extremely blessed to be a part of the "Blue" family.  I would not be in the position I am in today without them and I can't thank the coaches, staff and my Blizzard teammates enough for pushing me to be my best.

I'm excited to come back and be a part of the program and working with the Blizzard teams as well as giving lessons at the Academy.  It's going to be my home this winter, working out, giving lessons and throwing bullpens before I head into my first Spring Training.

Matt Fiedler on the Blizzard and coming back and coaching ...

I joined the Minnesota Blizzard program when I was 13 years old and it greatly influenced my young baseball career.  The coaches gave me the tools to grow as both a baseball player and person through graduation.  Through the opportunities provided by Barta and the entire coaching staff, I was able to receive a scholarship to play at the University of Minnesota which ultimately led into being drafted and playing professional baseball for the Cardinals.

I'm excited to join the program as a coach to help provide lessons and opportunities to young, talented and passionate baseball players.  I'll see you guys this fall !

Blizzard Coaches

All of our Minnesota Blizzard coaches this year have coached in our program before and we are proud of the fact that our coaches who start with - stay with us.  Up and down our program there are dedicated mentors and coaches who teach our Blizzard Big 5 and to play the game the right way.  All of our coaches have an understanding of the way we teach, whether it be our signs at third base or the consistency in our language when talking hitting, fielding and pitching from 9u-18u.  In addition, all of us have a message of positivity, energy, passion and integrity that keeps with the standards of Blizzard baseball.

All of the coaches below are confirmed and while teams have not been formed yet and coaches may move from team to team based on rosters, I am very excited that all of these coaches below are committed and have been in our program for several years!
