14u Black take home championship, 4 other finish in top 3

5 teams finish in top 3 in Des Moines, IA
 
Blizzard 14u Black earns Blizzard Spring programs 1st championship behind strong offense in an undefeated weekend
 
 
 
The Minnesota Blizzard Spring Program had a successful first weekend earning one championship (14u Black), two Runner-Up spots (13u Black, 12u Blue) and two 3rd Place finishes (14u Blue, 10u).
 
Blizzard 14u Black earned the Blizzard program's 115th championship winning 8-5 against the Ankeny Rampage. In the tournament, Blizzard Black scored 59 runs and were lead seemingly by the entire team at the plate but had Joe Hess (Lake Elmo) and Connor McClain (Blaine) to thank for daily offensive contributions that included 6 hits and 5 hits, respectively. Both McClain and Hess through complete games to lead their team to a 6-0 weekend record.
 
 
 
The Blizzard Black 13u and Blizzard Blue 12u both earned Runner-Up spots this weekend. The 13u team lost in the championship game 8-0 to the Urbandale J-Hawks, a team they beat earlier in the tournament 7-6. Brendan Koester (Inver Grove Heights) had 4 hits on the weekend and Rourik Gulbrandson (Minneapolis) and Ethan Ruiz (St. Paul) both hit HRs while Charlie Mueller (Roseville) started the tournament with 3 perfect innings that included 5 strikeouts.
 
 
 
The Blizzard Blue 12u went 4-1 losing in an offense-filled championship game 16-8 against the Waukee Lightning. The Blizzard 12u team scored 54 runs that included two 3-hit games by Easton Ahrens (Orono) and Oscar Waisanen (Chaska) as well as two big hitters who hit home runs - (2HR) Anthony Brown (Roseville) and a HR by Carson Hart (Mankato). Robbie Babcock (Stillwater) was one of the top performers on the mound going 4 innings while striking out 7.
 
 
 
Our Blizzard Blue 14u team and 10u team earned 3rd Place this weekend, playing good baseball. Blizzard Blue 14u Luke Adams (Lake Elmo) had a monster weekend collecting 11 hits in 15 at-bats. Josiah Cox (Chanhassen) chipped in with a walk-off grand slam while Nick Johnson (Shakopee) and Davon Castro (Shakopee) both had 3-hit games. Jackson Berg (Vadnais Heights), Alex Oehlke (Lake Elmo) and Johnson threw a combined 11 innings while striking out 20.
 
 
 
The Blizzard 10u team (3-2) lost in the semi-finals 8-7 against the Iowa Sticks, the same team they beat in the championship two weekends before 9-8. Owen Brookins (Orono) had a monster weekend hitting including 6 total hits and his first-ever HR to the opposite field which he followed up with another oppo taco in Day 2 of the Kick-Off Classic. Cam Favilla (Blaine) led the team with 7 hits and also chucked 4 innings striking out 8. Connor Flannagan (Lake Elmo) had a 3-hit game and dominated during his time on the mound. Kelton Foster (Dover) led the way on the mound during the weekend pitching a total of 5 innings while striking out 10.
 
 
 
The Blizzard 11u team went 2-2 on the weekend and speed was the name of the game as the 11u team stole 42 bases that included 9 SBs by Brody Radtke (Forest Lake).
 
Cal Johnson (Hudson, WI) and Ray Corless (Eden Prairie) had a combined 5-5 game over the weekend. Tyler Beaulieu led the way on the mound going 2 innings while striking out 4 over the weekend in Des Moines, IA.
 
 
 
The Blizzard Blue 13u had an odd weekend tying their first two games and losing their 3rd game 1-0 against the Omaha Pacesetters, the eventual tournament champions. Alex Seaver (Fargo, ND) threw 5 innings in that game striking out 11 allowing 0 earned runs.
 
Sam Abrahamson (Hudson, WI) had the top pitching outing of the week setting a program-high record for strikeouts with 16Ks over 6 innings pitched allowing 0 earned runs, 2 hits and one walk in the last game of the weekend defeating Top Notch (IA) 12-0.
 
Offensive leaders during the weekend were Isaiah Walker (Mound) and Cason Borchardt (Horace, ND), who both collected 3 hits. Abrahamson also helped himself in the final game hitting a monster HR to center field. Max Amundson (Roseville) had a game-tying hit vs. the Omaha Tigers that saved the game.
 
Colin Fike (Bloomington), Nick Stellrecht (New Richmond, WI), Borchardt and Andrew Brandt (Lino Lakes) went a combined 9.1 innings while striking out 30 hitters.

Our Blizzard Elite and Fall Tryouts are coming up in late June and early July and I would like to invite you to sign up!
 
Our Elite and Fall baseball teams, which start in the beginning of August with instructs, will have a full fall schedule including a fall-heavy tournament schedule that includes our local Advanced Ball Baseball Series Tournaments 1 and 2. In addition, we will play both local and national tournaments with our teams ages 10u-18u.
