Three Blizzard Alum taken in the 2022 MLB Draft

Gilbert becomes Blizzard's highest pick & 2nd 1st Rounder (Michael Busch, Dodgers)

Blizzard Alumni OF Drew Gilbert, RHP Will Frisch, and RHP Aidan Maldonado have been drafted in the Major League Baseball draft to Houston, Chicago (NL) and Milwaukee, respectively!
 
They become the 60th, 61st and 62nd Blizzard player to either be drafted or sign as a free agent.
 
Gilbert becomes the highest drafted player in Blizzard program history (Michael Busch, Dodgers (31st overall *pictured) while Frisch becomes the fifth highest pitcher drafted in Blizzard history (Logan Shore, 2nd Round Oakland / Sam Hentges, 2nd Round Cleveland / Madison Boer, 2nd Round Twins / Sam Carlson, 2nd Round Seattle).  This is the second time Maldonado has been drafted by Milwaukee after being selected in the 38th round out of Rosemount High School in 2018.
 
Gilbert, Frisch and Maldonado earned several awards during their time with the Blizzard.
 
Frisch earned the "Johnny Price" MVP and "Logan Shore" Top Pitcher Award in 2017 and 2018 while Gilbert won the "Jake Kuschke" Leadership Award in 2018.
 
In their senior years (2019), Gilbert earned MVP honors while Frisch and Ben Pederson (Missouri) earned Top Pitching honors.  Maldonado earned Top Pitcher honors in his senior year in 2018.
 
Gilbert and Frisch also played for the White Sox Area Code team (Frisch 2017, 2018 / Gilbert 2018).
 
Gilbert was named both the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018 and Mr. Minuteman of Minnesota and earned AAAA Minnesota State player of the Year in 2019.
 
And while these awards are well earned, these boys are phenomenal human beings and represent the Blizzard and the Blizzard Big 5 !
