Players and Parents,

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your time, talent, effort and attitude this year. The Blizzard program has three main ingredients that include great kids, great parents and a dedicated coaching staff. Combined, you have made a strong program that has been nationally recognized and one that I hope you are proud to be a part of. Thank you.

Our seniors have made their mark and it will be the 14th straight year we have had 25 or more players commit to play in college. To date, we have had just over 450 players commit to playing in college with another 63 either being drafted or signing professional contracts.

Louie Varland, who calls the Blizzard Academy home in the off-season, made his major league debut for the Twins striking out Aaron Judge for his first major league strikeout and Sam Hentges picked up his first big league playoff win for the Cleveland Indians. The Blizzard had our second 1st rounder in Drew Gilbert (Houston Astros) and two more draft picks including Will Frisch (Cubs, 6th Round) and Aidan Maldanado (Brewers, 14th Round). Gustavus graduate and Blizzard Alum and current Blizzard coach, RHP Christian Johnson, made his professional debut for the Sioux Falls Canaries this past summer and Blizzard Alums Ben Livorsi and Nick Novak (current Blizzard coach), helped the Fargo-Morehead RedHawks win the American Association Championship.

Our 2022 Blizzard teams won over 300 games this past fall winning 13 tournament championships and finishing in the top four in six tournaments. What was more impressive is the multiple comments from hotels, tournament administrators, umpires and opposing coaches about how our players, parents and coaches go about their business. Your ‘professionalism’ has not gone unnoticed and it is one of the items that continues to make the Blizzard program the premier organization in the Midwest. Those types of things take you much further than baseball and will help you in school, college, your next relationships and life. Thank you.

Parents, Grandparents and Families. – The players in the program have been fantastic and is a testimant and a direct reflection of your ability to cheer on, support and ‘be there’ when your kid, or someone elses, needs to be picked up. I am very proud and thankful for the support the teams have both at the Academy and in the stands. It makes things run smoothly and I see it every time I go to a game. Grandmas and Grandpas! – You are the best and your wisdom that you share with me, the coaches and the players is something that is invaluable. Thank you for those golden nuggets! Brothers and sisters – Sometimes you get dragged to the field because ‘you have to’, but I appreciate you being there, too. Believe it or not, your brother loves you and appreciates you more than you know!

So now that the season is over, “What next?” you may ask.

In short, here are some things you should have on your calendar moving forward:

Blizzard Performance

Blizzard Performance will start December 5th. This year, we will offer sessions at the Blizzard Academy in Vadnais Heights as well as other remote sites that Training HAUS and Twin Cities Orthopedics have to offer. Our relationship with TCO has extended to ALL sites where they offer performance so you can be a part of performance without having to drive across the Twin Cities. That information and sign ups will be out next week.

Blizzard Elite Hitting, Pitching and Catching Programs

These programs start on November 14th, but you will be able to start in December and January if need be. Our Blizzard Elite Hitting program’s instructors include: Eddie Gerald, Max Ploof and Nick Novak. Our Blizzard Elite Pitching program’s instructors include: Jesse Tollefson, Kellen Rholl and Ryan Duffy (V.H.) and Michael Jensen and Charlie Hutchinson (Edina). Our Catcher’s Camp will start in December and led by Connor Olson of the Minnesota Twins and Blizzard Alum.

“Eddie G. Lessons” will be available on Thursdays. Eddie’s 1:1 time will be very limited because of his leadership in both Elite Hitting and Eddie G. lessons.

These sign ups are available on the “Academy” tab on our Blizzard website.

Individual Lessons

We will offer 1:1 and small group lessons at Vadnais Heights and Edina. Those instructors will include Adam Barta, Cole Albers and all of the instructors above.

You can set your appointments up with Cole Albers by contacting him at:

cole@minnesotabaseballacademy.com

Summer Teams

We will be announcing summer teams by December 1st.

Winter Teams

I will be sending out a Google Document next week to gauge interest from all of the Blizzard players.

This and That

·        If you want to get together in regards to college or player development, please set up a 1:1 with myself, Cole Albers or Drake Molitor of Molitor Consulting. We will also have a college seminar for the summer teams and what to expect in the process, answer questions and give guidance.

·        Texas Baseball Ranch will be here again February 3rd-5th. Ron Wolforth and company will be coming up from Texas for Year 8. Please please please get signed up early for this. I’ll be offering an early-bird discount (just after Thanksgiving) but this camp fills up fast and I can’t go past 40 players. He doesn’t allow it. Ron and his staff are unbelievable and I would highly recommend it.

·        As you have probably seen, we have done a lot more on social media this year and we will continue to do so. Keep an ear out for our weekly Podcast and an eye out for our Blizzard Zoomcasts!

Thank you for being a part of the Minnesota Blizzard program. My goal and mission since 2003 has been to impact lives both on and off the field. If you are a first timer in the program, thank you for taking a chance on us and me! If you are a veteran in this program, thank you for your loyalty.

To ALL of you, I appreciate you and I look forward to seeing you at the Academy this winter. I think this year is going to be one of our best!

In Baseball,

#BlueLove
