Today’s Spotlight & Featured Player: Carson Hart (14u)

Awards: Awards: Voted 2021 Joe Loftus Top Hitter by his teammates on 13U Blue

Parents: Chris & Vicki (I cannot say enough good things about these two.  They go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcomed.  Chris is a baseball fanatic like so many dads and just oozes enthusiasm toward the game.  You can always hear his voice on the live-stream and he loves his city of Mankato (he pitched for Mankato State back in the day ).  Vicki is another mother hen when it comes to doing whatever she can to help out with the boys/families on the team.  As we were new to club baseball, Vicki has and continues to be a tremendous asset when explaining what we should expect.  Chris and Vicki are also a host family for the Mankato Moondogs (Northwoods League).  They take on one and sometimes two players a summer to live with them while that young man pursues his dream of playing baseball.  If you ever get over to a game make sure you let them know you are coming because they are at every game…heck Chris has the announcer in his back pocket and finds a way to get your presence at the game broadcast to the entire crowd.

History:  Where to begin, Carson has been like a big brother to Gavin since he joined Blizzard for Vero beach in February, 2021 (hard to believe they are same age when you see them next to each other).  Carson has anchored the OF since we have been with Blizzard.  He utilizes his speed and ability to judge the ball to basically track down anything from gap to gap.  Chances are if you watch a game you will seem him in centerfield.  Carson did have his moment of glory this past summer when he played 3rd base for an inning with the Mankato Royals (2021 Gopher State Champs), sorry bud those days are over – he’s left handed in the event you didn’t know.  On the base paths you can shout over to the opposing coach that he is going to steal but it doesn’t matter, just put him on 3rd base if he singles…he will be there in two pitches anyway.  Carson uses his long legs to cause havoc on the base paths as he has plus speed.  This past winter Carson did pitching lessons with Blizzard legend and 507 Co-owner Ben Moore (I played college ball with Ben and can back up his legendary status as he traveled the world playing baseball).  Carson’s delivery consists of a coil/hitch that carries his fastball into the low 70’s and throw’s a plus curveball.  As he continues to develop his command and his off speed he will be a force on the mound.  Carson and I joke all the time that the first tournament I saw him play was not his best performance (even his mom, Vicki said he normally doesn’t play like this at the time).  To say he has rebounded since AZ in the spring of 2021 has been an understatement.  Carson has hit over .600 since that tournament – a span that covers 1.5 years and yet he still expects more (hitting is supposed to be hard)!  He again utilizes a coiled approach and a stance that covers almost the entire batters box at the plate.  Last year he would go the other way more times than not but that has changed this year with some major power to the pull side.  I would not be surprised if Carson had over 100 RBI’s last year in the 40-ish games he played for Blizzard.  The top of the order got on base and Carson was one of the key-contributors consistently driving those runners in.  Like so many boys his emotions and Hart  (see what I did there) is on his sleeve.  Carson like many others (Matthew, Max, Easton, Chase, Ryan and Robbie) graduates in 2026.  We will continue to cheer these boys on as they make the jump to their graduating class in the near future but we are enjoying our time with them while we can!

Fun Fact:  The Hart residence is full of life, from Carson’s hamster, London’s bird Cheerio and the elder dachshund Taffy.  However, this past fall a breath of fresh air was introduced with Tater – another miniature red dachshund.  Carson was absolutely obsessed with our dachshund pup Frankie so it is fitting that he has a new snuggle buddy at his house in Mankato!

The Minnesota Blizzard Baseball Program would like to invite you to try out for the top elite baseball team in Minnesota!

• 15u-17u Summer Team Program (Freshman | Sophomore | Junior)

• 10u-14u Spring Program & Summer Program

Creating teams that consist of the most dedicated, talented players in the state has been the goal of the Blizzard Elite teams since 2003. Since that time, the Blizzard Elite Baseball program has played a full summer program playing in some of the top tournaments and against the best competition in the country. Our primary purpose is to assemble the most competitive roster possible to play against great competition in a recruitment packed atmosphere.

Since 2008, we have had just over 450 players move on to college and have had 57 players who have either been drafted or signed as free agents including Sam Carlson (Mariners, 2nd Round), Michael Busch (Dodgers, 1st Round), Logan Shore (Athletics, 2nd Round) to name a few.

Our Youth Spring and Summer Program for ages 10u-14u includes a tournament-heavy schedule that includes two-three tournaments in the spring season and 6-8 tournaments during the summer weekends. We reserve the weekdays for training and practice and travel on the weekends –mainly to tournaments in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.

You think you got what it takes?

I’d love to see you show us your stuff and earn a spot to play with the most successful club program in the Midwest - the Blizzard Elite Baseball program!
