2023 and 2024 were years that have led to where the Augsburg Baseball Program is today.

The 2025 Campaign for the Augsburg University Auggies has come to a close. The year was one of improvement, goals met, and maturity.

Before I arrived, Augsburg went 6-24 in 2022. In 2023, my first year, we made a slight improvement, going 9-24. My second year, in 2024, we lost a lot of seniors, and the very young team went 10-24.

This year, in 2025, the Auggies finished at 16-22, and 8-12 in conference play. Still much work to be done, but the best finish in close to a decade of baseball for the kids in Minneapolis.

The pitching staff in particular made some great jumps between 2023-2025. Here are some of the statistics and changes from then to now:

2023: 23 games with 10+ hits allowed
2024: 24 games with 10+ hits allowed
2025: 11 games with 10+ hits allowed

2023: 8.20 Team ERA
2024: 8.19 Team ERA
2025: 6.71 Team ERA

2023: 129 Scoreless Innings Thrown
2024: 131 Scoreless Innings Thrown
2025: 200 Scoreless Innings Thrown

2023: 191/145 K/BB Ratio
2024: 213/131 K/BB Ratio
2025: 229/130 K/BB Ratio

2023: 1 Pitcher Below a 5.5 ERA
2024: 1 Pitcher Below a 5.5 ERA
2025: 6 Pitchers Below a 5.5 ERA

Opponent Batting Average of Top 7 Pitchers:
2023: .326
2024: .319
2025: .291

Games Allowing 5 OR LESS Earned Runs:
2023: 16 Games w/5 or less earned
2024: 11 Games w/5 or less earned
2025: 26 Games w/5 or less earned

2023: 2.09 Team WHIP
2024: 1.92 Team WHIP
2025: 1.70 Team WHIP

I am incredibly proud of this group of young men. They have transformed themselves - from boys who did not fully believe in themselves and all had limits on themselves - to young men that know they can accomplish whatever they want to put their mind towards in life. A couple of graduating seniors I would like to highlight:

Sean Littmann - As a sophomore, in 2023, he was 74-77 T78. He worked his absolute tail off, through lots of hardships and tough trials. On Saturday, May 3, Sean closed out our final game of the season, and was 90-92 T93, and finished the season with a 3.00 ERA.

Myer Schmitz - As a sophomore, in 2023, Myer was 76-79 T81. Myer became one of the main leaders on our pitching staff over the last three years. Leading by example is one of his best traits. Myer jumped 8+ mph, sitting 84-88 T90 this past spring.

This group is disappointed that the year is over, but they are hungry for 2025-26. The strides made are great, but there is always room for improvement. Your main competition is always who you were last year.
