Blizzard 2026 standout and University of Creighton commit, Asmus, has been named Prep Baseball’s National High School Player of the Week following a dominant stretch for Morris Area.
The junior shortstop turned heads with a dominant performance last week, racking up nine extra-base hits—including three home runs—and driving in 18 runs in just a handful of games. His explosive production helped keep Morris Area perfect on the season at 18-0 and locked in their conference championship.
Through 18 games this season, Asmus is slashing .492 / .566 / .873. He leads his high school team in nearly every offensive category, with 31 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 33 runs scored.
Asmus is a key leader on Blizzard’s top 2026 team, where he’s known not only for his advanced approach at the plate, but for the consistency, maturity, and competitiveness he brings to every rep. His play embodies the Blizzard Big 5 values—especially Kaizen, the commitment to continuous improvement.
“Asmus is the kind of player every coach wants in their lineup,” said Blizzard founder Adam Barta. “He’s accountable, he’s coachable, and he’s never satisfied. His success is a byproduct of how he prepares and how he carries himself. This recognition is well deserved.”
A high-level defender with a strong baseball IQ, Asmus continues to elevate his game against elite competition—and his growth curve shows no signs of slowing down. His commitment to the University of Creighton marks another major milestone in a career defined by purpose, poise, and performance.
Blizzard Baseball congratulates Asmus on this national honor, and we look forward to what’s ahead in both the summer season and his journey beyond!
