Edina, Minn. – The migration of the Blizzard Elite will be in full swing this next season as the top baseball academy and club program in Minnesota will add an additional location to west side of the Twin Cities in the fall of 2019.

“There are several families and players who want to play for the Minnesota Blizzard,” owner Adam Barta said.  “But sometimes distance can be a factor from a team practice and training standpoint.  Having a second location enables our existing players and new players to experience our program without the additional miles.”

The new and fully-turfed space has already installed new turf, new lights, new walls with nets to be installed this summer.  But what will remain will be the core of the Blizzard program: teaching the five tools of baseball and continue to find the best players in the state to play the best competition in the country.

Players will have the opportunity to participate in one on one training, group training and practice with the same coaches and instructors who have been with the Blizzard Academy for many years.

“I live on the west side of the Twin Cities so I’m excited about the added location,” current Sioux Falls Canaries and Blizzard Pitching Coach Ben Moore said.  “I’ll still be in Vadnais Heights, but I’ll also have a chance to make a big impact with our pitchers over here, too.”

In addition to the indoor facility, Benilde St. Margaret HS and Braemar Fields will also serve as an outside home for practice, tryouts and games.

“I already feel like it’s home,” Blizzard Lead Hitting Coach Cory Glieden said.  “BSM is in my backyard and I’m excited to get started with practice this summer already.  With an additional place to tryout, it’s exciting that we will have the opportunity to attract more talent.”

Blizzard Elite teams will not be split into a west side or north side location.  Players trying out will practice and train where it is most convenient, but Blizzard Elite rosters will be comprised of the best players who attend tryouts.  Our Blizzard Fall program will take note where players are located and create teams that are competitive and meet the needs of players travel.

“People have been asking about a west-side location for a long time,” Barta said.  “We have been working on this for a couple of years and we are excited that it has become a reality.  Next up is a field.”

The new address to the West Side Blizzard Academy is located at:

7407 Washington Ave South Edina, MN 55439 (inside of Drive Athletics and next to Staubers Goalcrease)
