Mark West is a seasoned coach with over a decade of experience developing young athletes and fostering strong team cultures. Now in his sixth year with the Minnesota Blizzard Baseball Academy, Mark brings steady leadership and a deep understanding of the game to his role as a Blizzard coach.
Originally from Hinckley, MN, Mark played third base and outfield during his career and competed on Army post teams in Germany and Texas. His unique background gives him a global perspective on teamwork, discipline, and resilience — qualities he works hard to pass on to his players.
Mark’s coaching philosophy centers on mutual respect and constant growth. “Teaching and learning from each other,” he says, is at the heart of every practice and game. His players learn not just the skills of baseball, but also how to take responsibility, be coachable, and support their teammates.
Mark was drawn to Blizzard because of its excellence, energy, and values. “Bar none the best organization around,” he says — and he’s proud to be part of a program that puts people first.
Off the field, Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and continuing to learn. His calm presence, rich experience, and player-first approach make him a key piece of the Blizzard coaching staff.
