Wes Nelson is a young, enthusiastic coach who brings fresh perspective and energy to his second year with the Minnesota Blizzard Baseball Academy. A left-handed pitcher with college experience across three different programs, Wes is currently in his fourth year of college and remains deeply involved in both playing and coaching the game he loves.

Wes has one year of coaching experience and currently coaches both with Blizzard and at Washburn High School, his alma mater in South Minneapolis. He emphasizes steady improvement, daily focus, and confidence-building. “I always want to make sure athletes get better every day,” Wes says — a philosophy grounded in patience, repetition, and belief.

With a background as a pitcher and a passion for working with high school athletes, Wes has quickly become a relatable, approachable mentor for the players he coaches. His ability to speak from both recent playing experience and his current studies gives him a unique ability to connect.

When he’s not coaching or on the field, Wes enjoys playing video games and getting out on the golf course. His calm presence, love for the game, and player-first mindset make him a strong asset to the Blizzard staff.
