Blizzard Bring Home Two Championships to Finish the Summer!

In the final summer tourney of 2024, the boys managed to capture the 17U and 15U Championships, 2 runner-up finishes, and 5 top 4 finishes in the Summer Club Championships! The club went 31-22-1 throughout 54 games over the weekend. A common theme of the weekend was bombs from the offense combined with several complete games. In total 17 homeruns were hit by Carter Amelse, Carson Walker, Carson Timm, Owen Hodson, Isaiah Weber, John Pietruszewski, Nathaniel Negash, Easton Ahrens, Jace Mataczynski, Donny Johnson, Matthew Smith, Gavin Backstrom, Dominic Erickson, Jack Latourelle, Micah Feldman, Parker Kirkland, and Miles Tomaszewski.

2025 Blue (5-0 – Champs) – In a summer that was not as consistent as this group would have hoped they sure went out with a bang in the final tournament as they ran the table in pool play and dominated the final 3 games of the summer slate with back-to-back-to-back shutouts. The team gave up 7 runs total in 5 games while tallying 43 runs at the plate. As mentioned above several players went deep with homeruns and the same three (Carson Walker, Carson Timm and Carter Amelse) had shutout performances on the mound. Congrats on taking the title!

Hitting: Carter Amelse (2 2B, HR) and Isaac Beseman (2 2B, 3B, 6 R) and Coltin Smith (2 2B, 6 R) had 5 hits each; Carson Timm (2 2B, HR), Joe Anderson (5 RBI), and Carson Walker (2B, HR) 4 hits each; Dylan Moyers (6 R), Tyler Allshouse (2 2B, 3B, 6 R) and Jonathan Wong (2B, 7 RBI) had 3 hits each.

Pitching: Carson Walker 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 14 K; Carson Timm 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K; Carter Amelse 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K; Jack Scanlon 2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K; Tyler Allshouse 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K; Blake Martin 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K

2025 Black (3-1 – Semi-Final) – A solid run in pool play (3-1, 2-1 and 7-6 wins) earned the boys a spot in the semi-finals and an all-Blizzard chip was just missed as the boys fell to Mavs National. Three of the boys went deep and Ben Engele was on fire again as he struck out 13 in his complete game vs. MASH Grey. A very solid outing for a group and a great way to finish the summer!

Hitting: Colin Fike (2 2B) 7 total hits; Owen Hodson (HR) and Owen Farrington (3B) had 4 hits each; Connor McLain, Trenton Kirkland (2B) and Peter Adie (2 2B) had 2 hits each; Owen Mortimer, Isaiah Weber (HR), John Pietruszewski (HR) and Mason Hoeger added a hit each.

Pitching: Ben Engele 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 13 K; Andrew Brandt 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 9 K; John Pietruszewski 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K; Owen Farrington 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K

2025 Red (2-2)– This group opened the tournament with 2 convincing wins via 9-1 and 9-5 scores over Complete Athlete and Selects Midwest. The final pool game was against Mavs National to see who would win the pool as both had won their first two games. The Mavs got the better of the boys on the way to their runner up finish to 2025 Blue. On Sunday they came back and ultimately fell to Complete Game National, but this crew got better and better over the course of the summer. It was a good tournament to end the summer schedule on and we look forward to seeing many of these boys in the fall.

Hitting: Wyatt Abfalter and Nathaniel Negash (2B, 3B, HR, 5 RBI) each had 4 hits; Dulton Bengston (2B) 3 hits; Brody Dushkin, Ty Tschudi, Lucas Miller and Isaac Roberts (2 2B, 4 RBI) had 2 hits each; Nick Ulrich, Brayden Haberman, Luke Voll and Josh Vanderplas added a hit each.

Pitching: Nathaniel Negash 6 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 11 K; Nick Ulrich 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 5 K

2026 Blue (5-1 – Runner Up) – A roster that was depleted with guys missing for future games and some subs still made its way to the Championship after going 5-0 between its pool games and first couple bracket games. The run wasn’t meant to be as they ran out of gas in the chip before finishing runner up. It was a great effort from the group that saw Easton Ahrens and Jace Mataczynski go deep over the weekend. The team also saw 3 consecutive shutouts against Icemen (Cason Borchart 6 IP, 14 K), Complete Athlete (Chase Rudolph 4 IP, 2 K) and Impact Sports (Matthew Grundtner 6 IP, 8 K). I expect big things from this group come fall as the bulk of the team will be back and they will be at full strength as they look to build on the 31-3 record from last fall.

Hitting: Chase Rudolph 7/14, 2B, 10 RBI; Jace Mataczynski (2B, 3B, HR) and 6 total hits; Spencer Barta (2 2B), Cason Borchardt and Brandon Lunneborg (3 2B) had 5 hits each; Easton Ahrens (HR) and Max Amundson (2B) had 3 hits each; Carson Hart, Van Tellier, Jack Glancey and Matthew Grundtner (3B) had 2 hits each.

Pitching: Van Tellier 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K; Cason Borchardt 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 14 K; Matthew Grundtner 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K; Chase Rudolph 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

2026 Black (1-2) – In the opening game the boys were clinging to a 3-1 lead entering the bottom of the 5th before Take the Field put up crooked numbers in back-to-back innings to grab the win 7-4. The group rebounded with a 6-4 win over Selects Midwest in game 2 with Carter Nelson getting the win and Ethan Jeffers grabbing the save striking out 2 guys in the final inning of action. In the final game of the tourney the boys would fall 9-3 to Mavs Carolina. This group can battle with the best of them and like Blue will be at full strength come the fall schedule.

Hitting: Keegan Flansburg (2B) 3 hits; Easton Ridlehoover (2B, 3 RBI), Nick Stellrecht and Aiden Cantey (2B) had 2 hits each; Brody Radtke, Logan Nistler, Ben Fenske, Brendan Koester and Ethan Jeffers added a hit each.

Pitching: Carter Nelson 4.1 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K; Brendan Koester 3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

2026 Red (1-4)– A weekend of close calls would best summarize the scores of the games. After an opening 6-2 defeat to Complete game the boys bounced back with a 7-4 win over Millers Schiller which were followed by 7-6 and 9-8 defeats to MASH Maroon and Mavs. In the game versus MASH, Lorenzo Ramos managed to go 4-4 at the plate with a double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI and Donny Johnson added a bomb but in the end they were a run short from the desired result. Way to never give up and battle until the end!

Hitting: Lorenzo Ramos (2B, 4 R) 7 total hits; Rourick Gulbrandson (2 2B, 4 RBI) with 5 hits; Calvin McCabe (2 2B), Landon McQuade and Donny Johnson (2B, HR, 6 RBI) had 4 hits each; Tyler Beaulieux added 3 hits; Kyle Maronick, Jace Mataczynski (3B), Mitch Pierskalla and Evan Grove had 2 hits; Spencer Barta (2B), Peyton Tellijohn, Jack Tretter, Kasey MacCullum, Cayden Kroll and Jack Glancey (2B) had 1 hit each.

Pitching: Landon McQuade 6 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K; Rourick Gulbrandson 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K; Cayden Kroll 2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K; Jackson Hahn 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

2026 Gold (1-3)– After an opening 5-2 defeat to MASH Grey the offense exploded for a 16-2 win over Pine Tar Academy Blue. 15 hits in total with Biegert and Pederson grabbing 3 each while Ramos and Bolt added 2 hits to help pace the attack. Bolt would throw 4 innings with 4 strikeouts before the mercy rule would go into effect. After a 2-0 defeat to Foxfire that saw Sam Biegert throw 6 innings with 9 strikeouts, but it wasn’t enough as the offense couldn’t string together hits in the big spots to push across a couple runs. Matthew Smith would add a bomb in the finale. As throughout the entire summer these boys battle like so many others and they should be proud of the effort all weekend!

Hitting: Sam Biegert (2 2B, 5 RBI) with 5 hits; Evan Bolt (2B), Mitch Pierskalla, Dominic Sanchez, Matthew Smith (HR), Bo Pederson and Nicholas Wisniewski added 3 hits each; Luke Wyffels and Lorenzo Ramos (2B) had 2 hits each while Kolin Leazott added a single.

Pitching: Sam Biegert 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K; Evan Bolt 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K; Matthew Smith 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

2027 Blue (5-0-1 – Champs) – The opener of the tournament is unlike most as the game resulted in a 0-0 tie vs. Blizzard 507. Anthony Brown and Landon Sanderson (507) battled pitch for pitch. In the second pool game the boys won 8-0 which was the exact score 507 beat Turn 2 Athletics. The team got the bid into the bracket (seems crazy considering they didn’t give up a run but remember the boys getting in meant 507 didn’t make the bracket and they didn’t give up a run either). Well, the boys took the opportunity and ran with it by running the table in bracket play with a 7-5 win over Millers Poppitz following by 18-0 and 6-0 wins verus Selects and HTP. In the Championship the team combined 14 hits offensively with MASH walking 13 and beaning 5 more meant a high scoring affair with Blizzard winning 19-11! Aiden Connelly led the offense going 4-5 with 3 RBI in the chip and Parker Reckin worked 4 innings in relief to earn the win only giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs. A great way to end the summer season for this group!

Hitting: Oscar Waisanen (2 2B), 5 RBI, 5 R) had 9 hits; Aiden Connelly added 8 hits, 5 RBI and 6 runs; Anthony Brown (2B), Jay Mound (2 2B) and Isaac Iten (2B) had 7 hits each; Mat Matejka (2 2B), Parker Reckin (3B) and Tydan Guida (2B) had 5 hits each; Kason Nuehring (3 2Bs, 8 RBI) had 4 hits; Jackson Kolb also had a double.

Pitching: Anthony Brown 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 K; Jackson Kolb 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 12 K; Oscar Waisanen 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K; Alex Asmus 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K; Parker Reckin 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K; Avery Johnson 3 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

2027 Black (2-2) – The boys held a 6-1 lead in the final inning of the opener before falling 7-6. A couple of victories (9-1 and 6-3) sandwiched a 4-3 defeat to MN Grizzlies. The boys fought hard all weekend and ultimately fell short of the bracket before splitting a couple games on the final day. Gavin Backstrom added a homerun for the crew as he delivered a shot over the left center wall.

Hitting: Jax Marshall, Zach Bostrom (2B, 3B), Ben Fedor (2 2B), Mark Susa (2 2B) and Gavin Backstrom (2B, HR) all collected 4 hits each. Kellen Von Rueden (2B, 5 RBI), Silas Nelson (2B) and Joey Setter had 3 hits each. Gavin Iverson (2B) and Henry Braun (2B) had 2 each. Evan Gierach and Ryan VanPutten (2B) added a hit each.

Pitching: Mark Susa 5.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 6 K; Silas Nelson 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K; Evan Gierach 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K; Ryan VanPutten 4 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K; Joey Setter 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K; Kellen Von Rueden 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K; Jax Marshall 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

2027 Red (1-3)– The boys held off P2P Millers Boevers in the final game of the summer to finish on a high note. The offense slugged 12 hits in the game as the boys grabbed a 7-6 lead in the top of 4th before ultimately holding on for the 9-8 win. Dominic Erickson delivered the big blow in the win with a homerun as he went 2/4 with 3 RBI. Ty Link, Jake Litecky and Gradyn Swenson also had multi-hit games. Erickson and Nolan Wold did enough on the mound for the victory.

Hitting: Ty Link (2 2B) 5 hits; Jake Litecky 4 hits; Gradyn Swenson (2 2B), Dominic Erickson (HR), Nolan Wold and Ben Ling (2B) had 3 hits each; Tristan Olson had 2 hits while Vinny Bohle doubled and Ryan McCormick singled.

Pitching: Nolan Wold 10 IP, 12 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K; Gradyn Swenson 3.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

14U (2-2 – Quarter Finals) – The boys went 2-1 to earn a spot in the quarter finals after beating Icemen (8-7) and Take the Field (6-3) in pool play. In the opening of bracket play they ultimately fell to Chippewa Valley Futures in the Quarterfinals. A great summer culminated with Jack Latourelle, Micah Feldman and Parker Kirkland hitting bombs over the course of the Summer Championships. Congrats on a great run!

Hitting: Jack Cool (2 2B) and Parker West had 4 hits each; Parker Kirkland (HR) had 3 hits with 4 RBI; Jason Finn (2B), Jack Latourelle (2B, HR) and Kai Helgesen (2B) had 2 hits each; Vinny Bohle, Micah Feldman (HR), Hayden Danelski and Nick Corbett (2B) added a hit each.

Pitching: Micah Feldman 3 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

13U (3-2 – Runner Up) – After dropping a close game 5-3 in the opening the boys rattled off 3 consecutive wins over Muskies, JBA Clutch and MASH Maroon to set up a championship game vs. MASH Black. The boys jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the chip before MASH stormed back in the bottom of the 2nd inning to tie the game. MASH would add 2 runs in the bottom of the 4thbefore Blizzard answered back with a run of its own in the 5th. Down 1 heading to the 6th inning Noah Scott hit a two out double before being stranded to end the game and the bid for a chip to end the season. A great tournament for the boys as Miles Tomaszewski hit his Blizzard leading (all ages) 6th homerun of the summer in the tournament.

Hitting: Miles Tomaszewski (3 2B, HR, 9 RBI) had 8 hits; Noah Scott (2 2B, 3B) had 7 hits; Owen Brookins, Zack Murphy (3 2B) and Vinny Cognetta (2B, 2 3B) had 6 hits each; Soren Lillegard (3B, 7 R) had 5 hits; Theo Nett added a 2B, 3B and 2 singles; Charles Schkrohowsky and Noah Stupeck added 3 hits each.
